“Dreaming up” new designs and creating products shouldn’t really be considered work. I love what I do for a living, it is truly a gift. Sometimes when I take the 10 steps from my back porch to my studio I call Susan and joke about the commute. Sometimes I just pinch myself and think, “Is this really my job?!” When Susan and I tried to come up with a slogan or “tag line” for our little pottery company several years ago, we agonized to find the perfect sentence to capture our feelings and the heart of what we wanted to accomplish. We finally settled on, “We hope our products help you celebrate life… everyday.” This is still our heart’s desire. To design products for the market place that help make your family’s celebrations and traditions even more special. There is more to life than canvases, ceramic cupcakes, and tailgating platters. But if these things help you create treasured memories with your friends and families, then we are blessed to have been a small part of that. Thank you for being interested in what we do, and for buying our products. We are very grateful.
When I am not in the studio, I love spending time with my husband “Sweeney”. We met at the University of Georgia and just celebrated our 10-year anniversary. We have a yellow lab named Tate, but feel we are ready to upgrade to children (hopefully soon). Sweeney and I moved to Rome, Georgia in the summer of 2007 to start Young Life in the local high schools. We love this town and the people who live here. Sweeney and I feel that we are right where God wants us to be, doing exactly what He has called and equipped us to do.
There are so many things I enjoy doing when I not “working”. I love art, I love reading about painters and the lives they lived. Rembrandt and Van Gogh are my favorites but I also really like a present-day artist, Steve Penley. I love to garden and love the excitement that comes with each new bud and bloom. I love to read, I have begun to reread the classics my mother forced on me in my teens and have rediscovered the beauty of art that is painted with words. I love Saturdays in Athens and Georgia football, I love “skinny” caramel macchiatos with an extra shot of espresso, I love the soundtrack to any Broadway show, but Wicked is still my favorite (although Les Miserables is running a close second). I love flip-flops and having friends over for dinner. I love my family, I love my friends, I love their children. And I love my Lord.

There's more to life... My husband and I say that a lot to our kids and to ourselves. There's more to life than what I have experienced in my 37 years here on earth. There's more to life than my daily routine. There's more to life than what we see here in our cozy lives in Atlanta. Basically, there's more to life than me. I am thankful that someone (actually a few someones) taught me that along the way. I love what I do here at Cabell's. I love the people and the product, the challenge, and the chores. I love it all. I think I love it mostly because it's not about me. It's about doing something that has the potential to impact others lives. Before the ink had even dried on the documents that formally made us a company, we were hopeful and prayerful about how this little venture could impact people from our backyards to across the world. Since then we have had the privilege of employing some amazing people, funding causes that we believe in, and supporting organizations we love.
I spend most of my extra time with my family. My husband Todd of 14 years and I are involved in our kids lives, which includes everything from school to horse back riding to baseball. We love families and lead a small group of marrieds with kids, helping each other navigate the waters of life, love, kids, and commitments. My life is full and I am so very thankful for every part of it.
